District Tobacco Control Cells (DTCC) was established by Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition with the collaboration of the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA) established under Act, No. 27 of 2006. The aim of the DTCC is to implement Tobacco control strategies at the district level. Provincial Directors of Health Services (PDHS) take leadership in establishing these DTCCs.

Regional Director of Health Services (Chairperson of the Cell) , Secretary-Medical Officer of Non-Communicable Diseases (MO-NCD), A representative of the Police, A representative of the Department of  Excise, A representative of the Department of Education, A representative of Non-Governmental Organizations recommended by NATA are members of the DTCC.

Since DTCC would play a pivotal role in implementing the NATA Act, it is our sincere view that Activating DTCC is likely to well implement the NATA Act, comprehensively and effectively.
